Working Writer Data Backup Utility

If you are experiencing problems with The Working Writer and need to send us a copy of your data files, please download the data file backup utility and email us the file. This will allow us to recreate the errors you are experiencing with your data.

Installation and Use of the Backup Utility

  1. Download the utility by right-clicking here and selecting "Save Target As", and navigating to your Working Writer folder. By default this is "C:\Program Files\Working Writer v3.0'
  2. Navigate to your Working Writer folder by double-clicking on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Click on your "C:" drive, then "Program Files", then "Working Writer v3.0".
  3. On the right-hand pane of Windows Explorer scroll down until you find the file "WorkingWriter_BackupUtility.exe"
  4. Double-click on this utility and press the "Backup" button.
  5. Once the utility is finished (only a few seconds), using Windows Explorer again, double-click on the "Backup" folder (top of right-hand pane). You will see a zip file that is named with the date and time the file was created. For example, if the file was created at 4:23pm today, the resulting file name would be '2006-07-22_16-23.zip".
  6. Right-click on this zip file, select "Send To" from the popup menu and select "Mail Recipient". This starts your default email program and attaches the zip file to a new message. Enter "info@dolphinsoftware.bc.ca" in the "To:" field, describe the problem you're having, and send your message to us.
  7. We will notify you that we've received your message and data files, and will let you know as soon as we have a solution to the problem you are experiencing.
